Isley, daughter of Mark and Jennie (Christian) Hatcliff, was born January 18, 1898, near Shickley, and passed away at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva at the age of 85 years, six months, and 25 days. She attended Sunday school and church at the Free Will Baptist church near the home where she was born. She attended public school in district No. 60 in Fillmore county. On September 24, 1924, she was united in marriage to Edward D. Isley of Sutton. To this union were born two daughters. They lived on a farm west of Geneva for 45 years. She attended the United Brethren church during that time. In 1969 she moved from the farm to Geneva. She was a member of Rebekah Circle, United Methodist Church. Florence’s interests were varied. She enjoyed gardening and the care of flowers, and she was interested in photography and took many pictures with which she would make interesting scrapbooks. She enjoyed crocheting all of her life. She loved her home and family and loved to travel. Survivors include her husband, Edward D. Isley; and their daughters, Mrs. Roger (Shirley) Larkin of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Mrs. Byron (Norma Jean) Gillett of Aurora, Col.; sisters, Mrs. Hattie Spahn of Sutton, Mrs. Alice Ackerman of Milford; and a brother, Art Hatcliff of Shickley. She is also survived by six grandchildren. Her parents, one sister, Elsie Swanson, and two brothers, Lester and Oscar Hatcliff preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted at the United Methodist church in Geneva on Tuesday, August 16, with the Rev. Don Marsh officiating. Pallbearers were Roger Larkin, Bryon Gillett, Melvin Spahn, Lyle Spahn, Gerald Dudgeon, and Verle Williams. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. Her date of death was August 12, 1983.
