Description	:	August Julius Emil Tesch was born near Watertown, WI on August 12, 1869, as the second child of Carl "Fred" Tesch and his wife, Johanna Sophia Ernstine "Louisa/e Henrietta" Vorpahl. Not very long after the baptism of the little infant, October 24, 1869, the parents moved from Wisconsin to Mitchell County, Iowa, where they made their home ever since. Here the deceased grew up. Having reached the capable age, he attended public school, and later on he was also duly instructed in the Evangelical Lutheran church, and on April 4, 1883, was confirmed and made a good confession of his faith before many witnesses. The subsequent time of youth was spent with the parents by employing himself readily in the farm work. When August was 26 years old, he entered in the holy state of matrimony with Miss Wilhelmine Amelia Baartz. They were married on September 5, 1895. This union the Lord blessed with four boys of whom the first born, Eitel, died in infancy, while three others, Fred, Herman and Alfred are surviving their father. August Tesch always was of good health and robust constituion until 18 years ago, when he had to undergo an operation of the appendix. He was ailing ever since. This condition grew worse very suddenly on February 24, 1920, when he was afflicted with apoplexy. Another very dangerous operation was performed. It seemed to have prolonged his life for a short while, but his health was not brought back. A steady decrease of his vigor and strength became manifest. The deceased saw his end approaching and so he set his house in order. Craving for spiritual consolation, he found great comfort in the word of God and took advantage gladly and thankfully of his minister's administration. After he had assembled all his dear ones around his bedside once more to say goodbye, his soul passed from this vale of tears to a better land through his Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 12, 1921 (the 18th birthday of sons Alfred and Herman). The time of his earthly pilgrimage was 51 years and 7 months. He leaves, besides his wife and the three named sons, his aged father, his one brother, Henry, and a great number of other relatives to mourn his death. The funeral was held on Wednesday, March 16th, and the remains were laid to rest at the new cemetery of the Evangelical Lutheran St. John's church.
