His family moved to the Sanborn, North Dakota, area when he was six months old. His parents were Joseph and Rosina (Kunnemann) Diemert and he was one of 25 children. His family moved to the Sanborn, North Dakota, area when he was six months old. His parents were Joseph and Rosina (Kunnemann) Diemert and he was one of 25 children. August attended schools in the Sanborn area. In his late teens he worked as a cook in the depot restaurant in Fargo. Then in 1913 he moved to Montana where he homesteaded south of Rudyard. On September 9, 1918, he married Marion "Molly" Rideout in Helena. They were members of the St. Ann's (Black Coulee) Mission south of Rudyard for many years. They farmed in that area until 1959, when August retired and they moved in to Rudyard. In more recent years they attended Our Lady of Ransom Catholic church in Hingham. August was an avid reader, especially Westerns. In a way he was a man out of the West in the fact that he broke wild horses in his younger years. He loved horses and had a way with them. He was always a good listener and a patient man. He never complained and had a satisfied feeling with life. Tuesday, Nov. 14th, at the age of 87, he expired at his home in Rudyard. Survivors include his wife, Molly, who lives in the Liberty County Rest Home; two sons, Lloyd of Rudyard and Fritz of Selah, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Harlan (Eleanor) Wendland of Rudyard, Mrs. Victor (Rosina) Pegar of Big Sandy, and Mrs. Phillip (Lorena) Wendland of Rudyard; one brother, Isadore of Marblemount, Washington; 40 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
