Description	:	August Schleif was born on the 9th day of August, 1848, in Luboza, Prussia, and departed this life on the 13th day of February, 1929, at his home southwest of Nelson, at the age of 80 years, six months and 4 days. In this infancy Mr. Schleif was baptized in the Lutheran church and later, having received the necessary instruction, was also confirmed. He remained true to his church until his death. In this infancy Mr. Schleif was baptized in the Lutheran church and later, having received the necessary instruction, was also confirmed. He remained true to his church until his death. On July 13, 1877, he was united in marriage to Miss Louisa Golz who preceded him to the Great Beyond on the 17th of December, 1923. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Schleif, five sons and four daughters. One daughter, Anna, died in infancy. On October 1st, 1887, Mr. Schleif and family landed in Nelson, coming here from Germany, and in the vicinity of Nelson he spent the days allotted to him. Shortly after Christmas he contracted a cold which developed into flu, and this malady together with old age brought about his death. He leaves to mourn his death his eight children, 31 grand children, one brother and two sisters. He was laid to rest in the Nelson cemetery beside his wife last Friday afternoon, his pastor, Rev.
