Description	:	Edward August Ambrose Schleif, eldest child of Mr. August Schleif and Mathilda Goltz Schleif, was born in Lobsens, Germany, April 19, 1878. He departed this life on July 1, 1948, at Superior, Nebraska. At the age of 9 he came to America with his parents, and the family settled at Nelson, Nebraska. He lived in Nuckolls County all his life, since coming from Germany. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Germany, and became a member of the Lutheran Church by Confirmation on April 7, 1895. Read More	Edward August Ambrose Schleif, eldest child of Mr. August Schleif and Mathilda Goltz Schleif, was born in Lobsens, Germany, April 19, 1878. He departed this life on July 1, 1948, at Superior, Nebraska. At the age of 9 he came to America with his parents, and the family settled at Nelson, Nebraska. He lived in Nuckolls County all his life, since coming from Germany. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Germany, and became a member of the Lutheran Church by Confirmation on April 7, 1895. In 1898 he moved with his parents to a farm 5 miles west of Nelson. There he engaged in farming for himself. On April 28, 1903 he was united in marriage to Miss Mathilda L. Brennfoerder of the Nelson vicinity. To this union were born eight children -- four sons and four daughters. The eldest child, Theodore, preceded the father in death at the age of nine months. On March 8, 1918, he moved with his family to a farm five miles northwest of Superior. From there he moved to Superior in 1942. He was a devoted husband and father. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, three sons, Alvin, Leo and Vernon, all of Superior; four daughters, Mrs. Meta Bargen of Superior, Mrs. Emma Jacobsen of Russell, Kansas, Mrs. Esther Fritz of Lincoln, Miss Ruth Schleif of Superior, and a host of other relatives and friends.
