Mrs. Barbara Biederman (nee Ziegler) passed away at the hospital at Minneapolis Minn., where she had gone for treatment about two weeks ago, on Friday evening, May 1, 1925, at nine o'clock, at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 27 days. Deceased was born in Germany on March 4, 1849, and when five years of age she came to the United States with her parents, settling in Garnavillo township, Clayton county, Iowa. In 1864 she was married in Garnavillo township to Mr. Joseph Biederman, who preceded her in death on May 16, 1919. For many years the family lived on a farm in Garnavillo township. Five years ago Mrs. Biederman came to Guttenberg to reside. She had been in poor health for some time when death called her. All was done for her that could be done to ward off death, but all to no avail. In the death of Mrs. Biederman, this community loses another of its worthy mothers. Her death is deeply mourned by four sons, John, George and Jacob, of Guttenberg, and Joseph, of Garnavillo township; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends, by whom this good and true woman will be sadly missed. The body was brought from Minneapolis to her late home in this city on Saturday evening where funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. K. Wm. Braun, of Garnavillo, officiating. The body was laid to rest in the City Cemetery.
