Dear Sir, I take the means of your paper, the Daily Examiner, to let my Yuma friends know of the death of my wife, which occurred here on April 29, 1913. Mrs. Conklin had been at Long Beach, Cal., from last June to January, when I was transferred from the Western Navajo agency at Tuba, Arizona, to the Spokane agency in Washington. We thought the climate up here in the North might be beneficial to her. We were at the Spokane agency only three weeks, when we were transferred to the Coeur d'Alene reservation, and stationed here at Bonner's Ferry, Idaho. We arrived here February 17, and a month later Mrs. Conklin was taken with the grippe, and in her weak condition, it hastened her death. After funeral services here, I sent her remains back to her old home, Elmo, Dickinson county, Kansas - to be laid to rest with our own people in the Elmo cemetery. Mrs. Conklin was born in Virginia, November 18, 1865. In 1879 she, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Davis, moved to Elmo, Kansas, where I became acquainted with her. We were married on August 29, 1884. We lived at Elmo, Kansas from the time we were married till the fall of 1902 when we moved to Chapman, in the same county, where we lived till 1907, when we moved to Boulder, Colorado, from which place we went to Fort ????ell, Cal., in April, 1910, when we went into the Indian service. From there we were transferred to Yuma, in 1910; from Yuma to Tuba, Ariz., 1911, and from there to this place. Mrs. Conklin was a true and faithful Christian in the end of her earthly pilgrimage.
