Benjamin Bedea died at his home in Clay precinct, at 8:30 o'clock on Friday morning, July 27thm after an illness extending over a period of more than two years. Deceased was born in Wales, June 10th, 1830; came to the United States with his parents when he was five years of age, settling in Pennsylvania, in 1853 he went to Illinois where he remained until February, 1882, when he came to Nebraska and settled on a farm south of Table Rock, where he resided some years and then sold out and went to Oklahoma not liking it there he came back to Pawnee county and bought a farm in Clay precinct where he died. In 1862 he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Crossman in Illinois, to this union six children were born, two of whom died in Illinois, of the others, George E. lives near Table Rock, Walter and Nellie E. live in Clay precinct, and Albert H. lives in Clay Center, Kansas. The funeral services were held at 2:30 on Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in Pawnee City. Mr. Bedea had been an ardent Republican all his life, and on the 19th day of May 1904 he was a delegate to the state convention, coming home from there sick, and went to the home of his son, George, where he remained for more than a year, receiving every attention possible and finally became strong enough to make the journey to his home. He was a good man, held the esteem and respect of all who knew him, was loyal, patriotic citizen and a good neighbor, a kind father and husband and for many years a consistent member of the Presbyterian church.
