Description	:	Benjamin King, an aged and highly respected citizen of this community died at the home of his son, Columbus, four and one half miles southeast of Villisca, Sunday morning at half past three o’clock. He was 86 years, 10 months, and four days old. Death was due to old age. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Methodist Church in this city under the ministration of Rev. Mr. King was a man of noble character, an altruistic disposition and a loving husband and father. He united with the M. E. Church many years ago and remained a loyal church member all the rest of his life. As a Mason he was much beloved and greatly esteemed. Born in Wheeling West Virginia, April 27, 1820, he was married to Miss Sarah Kees at Burlington, this state in 1840, moving to Villisca fifteen years ago, where he made his home until the death of his wife, December 21, 1903. From that time until his own demise he lived with his children in this vicinity. He was the father of eight, seven whom are living. They are Columbus, Taylor, George, and Mrs. J. L. Holland of this vicinity; Mrs. Elizabeth Peckham, Mrs. Lucinda LuGornu of Walla Wallace Washington, and John King of Genoa, Nebraska. All except George who is in Philadelphia are expected to be present at the funeral. Villisca Review, Thursday, March 7, 1907, page 8 Benjamin King was born on April 27, 1820, in Wheeling, West Virginia to Mary, age 25, and John W. King, age 26. He married Sarah Keys on August 10, 1846, in Boone, Iowa. They had eight children in 17 years. He died on March 3, 1907, in Villisca, Iowa, having lived a long life of 86 years, and was buried there.
