The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, March 29, 1984; pg. 1 =========== Bernice Corrine Troudt, daughter of Ruben (sic) Wesley and Margaret (Dixon) Crigler, was born November 16, 1887, on a farm near Wymore, Nebraska. She passed away March 25, 1984, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior at the age of 96 years, 4 months and 9 days. She was baptized in the Blue River at an early age and accepted Christ as her Saviour (sic). Bernice attended Red Line and Pleasant Ridge rural schools. October 15, 1906, at the Methodist Parsonage in Superior, she was married to George Troudt. This union was blessed with five children. Bernice was a member of Royal Neighbors and Busy Bee Club, the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women Circle, plus a Sunday School teacher. She spent many years in the Nelson community. Bernice moved to the Good Samaritan Center in June 1983. Before that time she made her home in Elk Creek Manor. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, George, in May of 1956; one son, Leroy Troudt; two daughters, Nellie Meyer and Helen Troudt; and one brother, Jim Crigler, who died in WWI. Those left to mourn her passing and cherish her memories are her daughter, Mrs. John (Vivian) Wilson of Nelson; her son, Ivan Troudt of Nelson; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the United Methodist Church in Nelson Wednesday, March 28, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Paul Samuelson officiating. Music was provided by Verna Kruse, soloist, singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art", with Ivan Schafer as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were: Steve Thompson, Phil Schoof, Steve Sorensen, Joe Wilson, Chad Sukstorf and Doug Sykes. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery.
