Description	:	Bernice Edna Sole was born October 16, 1890, on a farm near Fairmont, Fillmore County, Nebraska. She was the eldest daughter of the late George and Jane Holland Sole. She received her education in rural school District No. 28 and the Fairmont high school. Read More	Bernice Edna Sole was born October 16, 1890, on a farm near Fairmont, Fillmore County, Nebraska. She was the eldest daughter of the late George and Jane Holland Sole. She received her education in rural school District No. 28 and the Fairmont high school. At an early age she was baptized in the Christian faith in the Fairmont Congregational Church, where she also received her early religious training. She later joined the Geneva Congregational Church where she still held membership. The family moved to Geneva in the spring of 1909, and for years engaged in the dairy business. Bernice worked faithful with her parents to make this a successful business. After the death of her parents in 1922, she with the help of her brothers, continued to operate the dairy farm for many years. Since 1945 she has lived in her small home at 425 H Street in Geneva. Here she devoted her life to her flowers and garden. She loved nature and the great out-of-doors. She was one of few who had a "green thumb"; for whatever she planted seemed to grow. Because of this ability, she was always finding room for plant slips or bulbs of favorite flowers of her many friends. Bernice was always thinking of others and she shared her flowers with her friends and those who were ailing. The past year she had been in poor health. In November she accompanied her brother Henry and wife to Denver for further care and treatment. She passed away at a Denver hospital December 21, 1958, at the age of 68 years, 2 months and 5 days. She leaves to mourn her passing three brothers, Clarence of Nelson, Dr. Henry of Denver, Col., and Carl of Hastings; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Huston and Mrs. Ruby Walton of Geneva and Dr. Elsie Sole of Denver, and many nieces and nephews, besides a host of friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brothers, Arthur H. and Alwyne E., and an infant brother, Edwin. Funeral services were held Friday, December 26, at 2 p.m. at the Kritner-Farmer Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Robert Kasper officiating. Mrs. Gerlad Pickerell, accompanied by Mrs. Willard Foster sang, "Take Time to be Holy" and "Love Divine". Pallbearers were Keith, Ernest, Burton, Lloyd and Gene Sole; and Charles Barbur.
