Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday, December 28, at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva. Geneva Chapter 180, Order of the Eastern Star, will be in charge of the Services. Walton, nee Sole was born on a farm northeast of Fairmont, Neb., December 9, 1900 to the late George and Jane Sole. The family moved to Geneva in 1909 and operated a successful dairy for many years. Ruby attended Geneva public school, graduating in the class of 1919, and was looking forward with enthusiasm to the 50-year class reunion next May. She attended Peru State Normal and taught in the city schools of Pender, Minatare and Doniphan, Neb. and Fillmore county districts 28 and 12 until her marriage to Gerald Walton in 1925. Their travels during their married life took them through all the contiguous states except six. A highlight was an eight-week trip in 1951 to England, where they visited Ruby's mother's brother and half-sister. She was the mother of three sons, George of Los Angeles, Dr. Gerard of Denver and Gerome of Chicago. Her work with the USO during World War II and professional cooking gained her a wide circle of friends. She received much mail from her USO girls and others at Christmas time. Hers was a humble home in which she greatly enjoyed the visits of neighbors and friends. Ruby was a true fraternalist, going on foot and out of her way to aid others. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America and the Order of Eastern Star of Geneva, serving the latter as secretary for a number of years. She passed away Tuesday, December 24, 1968, at 1:30 p. m. leaving to mourn her, her husband, three sons and their wives, seven grandchildren, a sister, Dr. Elsie Sole of Denver, Col., and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded by her parents, six brothers and two sisters. Memorial services were held at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva at 2 p. m. Saturday, December 28, with the Geneva Eastern Star chapter in charge. John C. Gewacke paid tribute to the deceased, citing many fine qualities that endeared her to friends. Pallbearers were George Walton, Dr. Gerard Walton, Gerome Walton, Gale Walton, Ernest Sole and Frank Huston. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. David Portwood, Everett Walton and in absentia, Ralph Reemts and Commander Norman Sothan. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
