Ledger Wednesday May 21, 1969 Pg. 16 Col. 6 Mrs. McQuiston Taken In Death Mrs. Bessie Raymond McQuiston, 84, 50 N. Fifth St., died at 2:35 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital. She suffered a stroke at her home at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. McQuiston was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. She was employed by the local telephone company for more that 40 years. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Wilson Hyde. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. McQuiston was born Dec. 30, 1884 near Libertyville, the daughter of Mace and Elzada Baldwin Clinkinbeard (sic. Clinkenbeard). She was reared and educated in the Libertyville community, teaching school there for several years. She was married to Roy B. Raymond March 2, 1904 (Note: they were divorced in 1924). He died in 1934 (sic. Dec. 17, 1934). On Feb. 19, 1956 she was married to Floyd H. McQuiston. He preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1962. Mrs. McQuiston was a member of the Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. J. G. Kurtz, Pleasant Plain; Arthur Raymond, Whiting, Ind.; Mace Raymond, Lafayette, Ind.; Cyril, Cedric, Jack and Richard Raymond, all of Fairfield. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; one brother, E. J. Clinkinbeard, and one sister, Mrs. Wilson Heflin, both of Fairfield. Six brothers and two sisters are deceased. ---------- Children: * Myrtle G. Raymond Kurtz * Jack Lloyd Raymond * Cedric M Raymond * Cyril Rogers Raymond * Mace Elbert Raymond and his wife Ena Grimes Hershey Raymond (both buried in Isley cemetery, Lafayette, Tippecanoe, Indiana) * Lt Colonel Arthur L Raymond and his wife Zenna E Campbell Raymond (both are buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C.) * Richard E. Raymond was born February 18, 1919 and died on March 16, 1977. He was cremated, but where (if) he was buried is not known to this contributor at this time.
