Description	:	Betty Light, 91, of Deep River, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009, from a sudden illness at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Church of Deep River, with Pastor Boyd Sparks officiating. Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. today at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Deep River Fire Department. Betty E. (Graham) Light was born in Newton on Nov. 1, 1917, to Thomas and Margaret (Crawford) Graham. She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1935. On Sept. 9, 1937, she was united in marriage to Paul Light of Deep River in Des Moines. To this union one daughter was born, Linda Lee. Paul and Betty made their home in Deep River. When he was called to the Army during World War II she managed the Gibson Savings Bank in Deep River and continued to work there after he returned until her retirement in 1985. Betty was also a partner in Light's Insurance Agency. Paul and Betty ran the Deep River Theatre for many years. She was a member of the United Church of Deep River, American Legion Auxiliary, Progress Club and a lifetime member of Order of the Eastern Star. Betty was an accomplished ballroom dancer, taking part in many competitions in Florida where she spent the winters for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Geiger and husband Richard; a granddaughter, Richelle Kluck and husband Jim Ray; a grandson, Michael Geiger and wife Wendy; six great-grandchildren, Amanda, Lindie and Alec Adair and Tyler, Tess and Tod Geiger; and a sister, Ellen Lemke of Bedford. She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, Paul; one sister, Margaret Figland; two brothers, Bill Graham and Bob Graham; and a grandson-in-law, Steve Adair.
