Betty was married to "Junior" Thimm. She had an illness, and in 1959, after the birth of her youngest child, James, she entered a hospital, and her children were raised by a foster family, Hilda and Carl Schmidt, who were members of the Beatrice Mennonite Church and friends of Junior Thimm and Betty. Betty passed from this life in 1992. She was preceded in death by her son, David, in 1971, and her son, James, in 1985.
