Description	:	Blanch Corinna Cooley was born October 15, 1871, in Adams County, Iowa, to parents William Samuel Brewer and Margaret Ann Austin. Her family relocated to Jewell, Kansas in 1876, where they were prominent members of the community and successful farmers. She attended Kansas a State Normal School in Emporia, a teacher’s college, in 1887. Blanch and Arthur B. Cooley married on October 7, 1891, in a Jewell, Kansas. Read More	Blanch Corinna Cooley was born October 15, 1871, in Adams County, Iowa, to parents William Samuel Brewer and Margaret Ann Austin. Her family relocated to Jewell, Kansas in 1876, where they were prominent members of the community and successful farmers. She attended Kansas a State Normal School in Emporia, a teacher’s college, in 1887. Blanch and Arthur B. Cooley married on October 7, 1891, in a Jewell, Kansas. Over the years they would have six children; two of their daughters passed away as infants in Jewell. The family traveled to Colorado and Wyoming by covered wagon in 1900. Following that trip, she and Arthur relocated to Tie Siding, Wyoming, where they had purchased a cattle ranch. Around 1907 the family relocated to Boulder, Colorado, where they ran The St. Julian Hotel until 1910. The family finally settled in the San Luis Valley, Colorado, where they owned a mercantile and managed a farm in Mosca. Arthur became Alamosa County’s first Public Assessor, which required the family to live part time in Alamosa. With her husband’s unexpected death in 1917 from blood poisoning, Blanch retained the farm in Mosca while spending periods of time back in Jewell. In her later years, she lived with her daughter in Montrose, Colorado, where she died March 29, 1960, in a Montrose Hospital. Final Rites and burial were held in Jewell, Kansas.
