"Blanch" should have been "Blanche") Miss Blanche Stever passed away this morning at the hospital at 9:30 o'clock after an illness of about four weeks with typhoid fever. Her death comes as a great shock to her many friends here who knew that her condition was serious but did not realize that the end was so near. Miss Stever was taken ill on Christmas day at the George Stever home on West Burlington street and after a few days was removed to the hospital. Her condition had been very satisfactory until a few days ago and even then it was felt by close friends that the crisis would be successfully passed. Only a few minutes before the end came this morning Mrs. George Stever and Miss Della Young who had called at the hospital were admitted to her room and conversed with her for a short time. They had but stepped to the sun porch when they were hastily summoned to the room and the death angel summoned Miss Stever. For the past five years Miss Stever has been employed in the offices of the Jefferson County Telephone Company, a greater part of the time as book keeper and collector. She was very highly esteemed by the officers of the company and employes (sic) and her death is keenly felt by all connected with the office. Miss Stever was about 36 years of age and was reared in Batavia. She was the daughter of the late John Stever and wife. Her father has been dead for several years and the mother passed away in this city June 2nd, 1912. She is survived by one brother, Fred Stever, who resides in Los Angeles, California. Miss Stever was a member of the Fairfield Yeoman Homestead carrying a beneficiary policy for $2,000. She was also a member of the "O.N.O" Club of ladies which was recently organized. There are probably not many women in the city with a larger circle of friends and acquaintances than had Miss Stever. Always quiet and unassuming in manner yet cordial and social to those with whom she came in contact she had gradually widened her circle of friends until it was very large. She had for years made her home at the George Stever home, 700 West Burlington street and it was there that the remains were taken this morning. No arrangements will be made for the funeral services until the arrival of the brother from California. It is probable that the last service will be held at the Christian church and it may occur Monday. The brother who had been prevented from being with his only sister because of illness in his own family is expected to arrive Saturday or Sunday.
