MATTIE STEVER DIED HERE SUNDAY. Mrs. Mattie Stever died at her home on East Washington street Sunday afternoon about four o'clock after an illness of several months of a complication of diseases. She was about sixty years of age and was the widow of John Stever, a well known resident of Batavia for many years. Mr. Stever died in 1880 (sic. he died January 22, 1882 per his headstone inscription, but died January 21, 1881 per his Jefferson county death record). Mrs. Stever resided in Batavia until about a year ago when she came to Fairfield to make her home. She is survived by a Fred A. Stever of Los Angeles, Cal., and a daughter Miss Blanche Stever of this city. The funeral will be held tomorrow at ten o'clock at the home. Rev. J. A. Longston, pastor of the Christian church will have charge of the last services. The interrement (sic) will take place in Evergreen cemetery.
