Description	:	Johannes Loftesnes (Loftesness) born 4 August 1822 in Sogndal, Sogn Norway. Britha Loftesness (maiden name Henjum) born 27 September 1833 in Leikanger, Sogn Norway. Johannes and Britha were married on 19 May 1855 and lived in their native country until the year 1864, immigrated to America and came to Wisconsin, where they resided for two years. For the next seven years, they resided in Fillmore County, Minnesota. Read More	Johannes Loftesnes (Loftesness) born 4 August 1822 in Sogndal, Sogn Norway. Britha Loftesness (maiden name Henjum) born 27 September 1833 in Leikanger, Sogn Norway. Johannes and Britha were married on 19 May 1855 and lived in their native country until the year 1864, immigrated to America and came to Wisconsin, where they resided for two years. In 1873, they relocated to Minnehaha County, South Dakota where they took part in the Homestead Act and began farming in Edison Township residing until their death. Johannes died in 1898 and Britha died on 5 February 1919. They had ten children: Carrie (Mrs. C.W. Wangsness); Hans; Anders; Herman; John; Christopher; Carl; Christina (Mrs. Iver Anderson); Anna (Mrs. Louis Bothun); and Johanna (Mrs. John Simons). Hans, the eldest son was in 1891 married to Unni (Unnie) Henjem, and he took over the farm and gave his parents residency. Hans died in 1905, but his wife and family continued with the work and fulfilled all claims that were promised the elderly couple until their deaths. Johannes Loftesness and wife Britha were among the organizers of the Norway Lutheran Congregation and were members until their deaths.
