Description	:	Carl L. Ingwersen, 87, of Mount Pleasant died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Park Place Care Center in Mount Pleasant. Born June 29, 1924, in Henry County, he was the son of John J. and Mary E. Brownell Ingwersen. He married Erma Riley. She died in 1965. On Aug. 16, 1966, he married Betty Elaine Martin in Trenton. Mr. Ingwersen farmed the family farm for one year, worked 13 years at Scheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison and retired from Henry County maintenance department. Ingwersen, 87, of Mount Pleasant died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Park Place Care Center in Mount Pleasant. Born June 29, 1924, in Henry County, he was the son of John J. and Mary E. Brownell Ingwersen. He married Erma Riley. She died in 1965. On Aug. 16, 1966, he married Betty Elaine Martin in Trenton. Mr. Ingwersen farmed the family farm for one year, worked 13 years at Scheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison and retired from Henry County maintenance department. He was caretaker of Swedesburg Cemetery for 17 years and lived in Swedesburg from 1949 until moving to Mount Pleasant in 2009. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Trenton Missionary Church. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Deborah Martin of Hermitage, Tenn.; three sons, Kendall Ingwersen of Clive, Ted Ingwersen of Central City and Tim Ingwersen of Coggon; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Campbell of Mount Pleasant. Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter and two brothers. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Ingwersen will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trenton Missionary Church, with the Rev. David Forrester officiating. Burial with military rites will be in White Oak Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Hospice of Southeast Iowa.
