Mr. Gardner was born July 11, 1934, in Surry County to the late Floyd McCoy and Lela Stone Gardner. Read More	SP4 US ARMY VIETNAM DOBSON -- Mr. Carl Roosevelt Gardner, 66, of 394 Pratt Road, husband of Nancy Harbour Gardner, passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 6, 2000, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Gardner was born July 11, 1934, in Surry County to the late Floyd McCoy and Lela Stone Gardner. He was a retired tobacco farmer, a veteran of the U.S. Army, member of Pilot Mountain BB&T Bank Board and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Carl was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and neighbor. He was always there when we needed someone to help with anything, whether it be a golf swing, a car or just advice. You never would have met him without seeing a glowing smile on his face. God has gained a special person today. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Harbour Gardner, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Keith Marshall of Clemmons; a son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Greta Gardner of Dobson; four grandchildren, Kirstin Gardner, Scott Marshall, Karmen Gardner and Nate Marshall; a sister and brother-in-law, June and Warren Fulk of Dobson; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Pansy Gardner and Carroll and Barbara Gardner, all of Mount Airy. Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Floyd Gardner. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church conducted by Elder Vance Jones and Elder David Edwards. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Gardner family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening, Dec. 8, 2000, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and other times at his home, 394 Pratt Road, Dobson. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Route 2, Box 204, Pinnacle, NC 27043.
