Description	:	Earling - Carmelita Heese, daughter of Nicholas J and Kathryn M Heller Schechinger, was born at Portsmouth, on Oct 26, 1929. She was baptized and confirmed at St Mary's church in Portsmouth. She attended St Mary's school and grew to adulthood in Portsmouth. Read More	Earling - Carmelita Heese, daughter of Nicholas J and Kathryn M Heller Schechinger, was born at Portsmouth, on Oct 26, 1929. She was baptized and confirmed at St Mary's church in Portsmouth. She attended St Mary's school and grew to adulthood in Portsmouth. After completing her schooling, Carmelita worked as a rural school teacher for a year. On Sept 28, 1948, she married Edward A Heese in St Mary's church, Portsmouth. Two sons were born to this union. They made their home in Earling. Carmelita attended the Barnes Beauty School in Co. Bluffs and then opened a shop in her home. In 1969, they moved to Harlan but Carmelita continued to work in the beauty shop in down town Earling. In 1975 they moved back to Earling and after Edward's death in Nov of 1975, Carmelita continued to make her home in Earling. It was here that she died on Sunday, Nov 11, at age 50 years and 15 days. She had been a long time member of St Joseph's church in Earling. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Urban and Damion Schechinger; and by a sister, Gemma Sonderman. Survivors include her sons - Randy Heese of Thornton, Colo & Rick Heese of Denver, Colo; a grandson; two sisters - Marita (Mrs Vince Sonderman) of Portsmouth and Kathryn (Mrs Ed Rosenthal) of Arizona; two brothers - Willard Schechinger of Co Bluffs and Nick M Schechinger of Portsmouth; nieces and nephews and other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Joseph's church in Earling on Saturday, Nov 17, 1979, with Rev Jon Kautzky as celebrant. Burial was in St Joseph's Cemetery, Earling, with Bob Kinkel, Jim Bieker, Terry Bieker, Wayne Graeve, Guyle Sonderman and Terry Schechinger serving as pallbearers. Pauley Funeral Home was in charge of the services. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Carmelita Heese, 50 Earling - St Joseph's Catholic Church was the site of Saturday morning funeral services here for Earling resident Carmelita Heese, 50, who died Wednesday in Earling. Burial was in the St Joseph's Cemetery. Surviving are two sons, Randy Heese of Thornton, Colo., and Rick Heese of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Willard Schechinger of Council Bluffs, and Nick M Schechinger, Portsmouth; two sisters, Marita (Mrs Vince) Sonderman, Portsmouth, and Kathryn (Mrs Ed) Rosenthal of Arizona; and one grandchild.
