He married Lillian C Galiher Sept 11, 1942. Four children were born to this union. He had lived in Portsmouth before moving to Co Bluffs 46 years ago. He attended St Mary's School in Portsmouth. He was a machinist for 30 years for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St Peter's Church, Co Bluffs and the AFL Machinists Union No 60. He was also a member of the Union Pacific Old Timers Club. He died at his home in Co Bluffs at age 78 years, two months and 13 days. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lillian; his four daughters, Eileen M Galiher and Colleen J Hood, both of Co Bluffs, Dorothy J Koch of Osakis, MN and Shirley Kay Gift of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services were held Oct 15, 1999, at St Peter's Church in Co Bluffs with Rev Chuck Kottas officiating. Burial was in St Joseph's Cemetery, Co Bluffs, with Jeff Hood, Dan Koch, Dan Overly, Mark Koch, Marcus Dryak and Jeff Williams casket bearers. Beem-Belford Funeral Home, Co Bluffs in charge of arrangements.
