Read More	Mrs Harry Sonderman, 43 Portsmouth - Gemma JoAnn Sonderman, daughter of Nicholas J and Kathryn M Heller Schechinger, was born on a farm in Shelby County near Portsmouth, on May 14, 1935. She was baptized and confirmed at St Mary's church in Portsmouth. She attended St Mary's School and grew to adulthood on her parents's farm. After graduating from St Mary's high school in 1954, she attended the Barnes Beauty School in Co. Bluffs. She then returned to Portsmouth where she worked a beauty operator. On June 1, 1957, she married Harold Sonderman in St Marys' church in Portsmouth. Three children were born to this union. After their marriage, they made their home on a farm near Portsmouth and this has been their home since that time. Mrs Sonderman died at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan on Tuesday, March 13, 1979, at age of 43 years, 9 months and 28 days. She had been a life time member of St Mary's church in Portsmouth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Galen; and by two brothers, Urban and Damion Schechinger. Her survivors include her husband, Harry, of Portsmouth; a son, Guyle, at home; a daughter, Gaylene (Mrs Gaige Petersen) of Harlan; two brothers - Willard Schechinger of Co. Bluffs and Nick M Schechinger of Portsmouth; three sisters - Marita (Mrs Vince Sonderman) of Portsmouth, Kathryn (Mrs Ed Rosenthal) of Ariz., and Carmelita Heese of Earling; nieces and nephews and other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Mary's church in Portsmouth on Thursday, March 15, 1979 with Rev Vincent Rosonke as celebrant. Burial was in St Mary's cemetery in Portsmouth with Tom Powers, Dan Schulte, Gary Schulte, Mike Schulte, Frank Powers and Denny Kloewer serving as pallbearers.
