She is survived by her daughter, Carol Lynne Osborne Shotton and husband, Charles Thomas Shotton, of Suffolk; son, James Preston Osborne and wife, Ann C. Osborne, of Hardy, Va., grandson, Charles Thomas Shotton Jr. and wife, Linda; granddaughter, Cynthia Lynne Shotton Garner and husband, Mark; five great-grandchildren, Graham Kittrell Garner and Lillian Gayhardt Garner, of Oakwood, Ohio; Charles Randolph Shotton, William Worth Shotton and Annabelle Claire Shotton, of Leesburg, Va.; one brother, Lester H. Halsey, of Mouth of Wilson, Va.; and a sister, Dorothy H. DiSario, of San Rafael, Calif.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Osborne was a member of the 1932 graduating class of Oak Hill Baptist Academy and graduated from Appalachian State Teachers College. She taught in Grayson County public schools over a period of forty years. Mrs. Osborne was an early member of the Independence Music Club, the Bridle Creek United Methodist Church, the Bridge Club, and former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution as well as other civic and community organizations. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2008, at 4 p.m. at the Bridle Creek United Methodist Church, Independence, Va., with the Rev. Hal Eaton and the Rev. Jim Darnell officiating. Interment in the Bridle Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Independence Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 607, Independence, Va. 24348 or the Bridle Creek Cemetery Fund, c/o Jacky Anderson, Grayson National Bank, P.O. Box 186, Independence, Va. 24348. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
