They were the parents of Mary. Casper and his daughter immigrated in 1860. Casper married Mrs Anna B. Lydner Sittner on 6 Nov 1861 in La Salle County, Illinois . They were the parents of Katherine #184614259 (1862 IL - 1947, LW Schramm), George, Peter, and Eva Elizabeth "Lizzie", and Frank (1874 IL, listed as a son in the 1880 census and not found after that). The Chronicle - Thursday , September 16th, 1909 - Caspar Luft, a resident of Clinton township for nearly thirty years, died last Friday at his home in the eighty fourth year of his age. He had been afflicted with kidney and bladder weakness for years and suffered intensely during the last year of his life. Funeral services were conducted in the German Reformed church Sunday by Rev. Jacob Christ and the remains were interred in the cemetery of that church, the land of which Mr. Luft had donated years ago. Mr. Luft was born October 5, 1825, in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. His first wife died there and in I860 he crossed the water with his daughter Mary, long since dead, locating near Mendota, Illinois. A year later he married Mrs. Anna B. Sittner, and in 1880 they came to a farm in Clinton township. Mr. Luft is survived by his widow, his son George of this city, and two daughters, Mrs. L.W. Schramm of Clinton township and Mrs. G.J. Freese of Odebolt. His step-daughter, Mrs. John Mehlbrech, resides near Parker, South Dakota. A daughter, Mary, and two sons, Peter and Henry, preceded him to the grave. He leaves forty five grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. The deceased had many friends and his enemies were few, if any. He was a jolly, companionable old gentleman with a hearty greeting for all, and he will be missed by a large acquaintance. BIO: Gertrude was the daughter of (--?--) Sittner and his wife Anna Barbara. Anna Barbara Sittner married Caspar Luft in La Salle County, Illinois on 6 Nov 1861.
