Description	:	Henry was the son of Mr Sittner and Anna Barbara. His father died about 1859 and his mother married Casper Luft in 1861. Casper adopted Henry and his sister Gertrude. Henry married Mary Elizabeth Hoefling on July 25, 1885 in Clinton township, Sac county, IA. Henry married Mary Elizabeth Hoefling on July 25, 1885 in Clinton township, Sac county, IA. They were the parents of 6 children: Peter, Louis (1891-1976), Gustav, and John, Katherine, and Anna Barbara. The Chronicle - Thursday , April 28th, 1904 - Henry Luft, a well known citizen of Clinton township, died at his home last Saturday. He had been ill for some time and four days before his death was attacked by pneumonia and suffered also a paralytic stroke. The remains were interred in the German Reformed cemetery on Tuesday, Rev. A.C. Plappert conducting the services. The deceased was a son of Caspar Luft. He was born in Germany, 1858, and came to America in 1860 with his parents, who lived in Illinois until 1880, when they settled in Clinton township, this county. In 1880 he married Mary Elizabeth Hoefling, daughter of Conrad Hoefling of Dysart, Iowa. Two girls and four boys were born to them, the oldest being now 17 years old and the youngest three. He leaves also a widow, three sisters and two brothers. The brothers are Peter and George; the sisters, Mrs. John Melbrecht, Mrs. L. Schramm and Mrs. G.J. Freese. The relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Luft of Hinton, Henry Luft and Mrs. Kate Stevens of Sioux City, and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Hoefling of Dysart. Mr. Luft was a good neighbor and leaves a large number of friends to mourn his demise.
