WALES From Saturday’s Daily- Yesterday afternoon the body of Mrs. Catherine Wiles was brought to this city on No. 2, over the Burlington and a short service held at the Holy Rosary Catholic church in the west part of the city by Father John Hancik, and where a number of the friends were given the opportunity of paying their last respects to the departed. The requiem high mass of the Catholic church was celebrated at the St. James church at Edgmont, South Dakota, on Thursday at 10 o’clock by the Very Rev. Hoey, pastor of the church. Catherine Mahoney, eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Mahoney, was born at Quebec, Canada, February 14, 1843 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Patrick Egan at Edgmont, South Dakota, on June 8th, 1927. The deceased came to Plattsmouth with her parents in 1865 and has made her home here since that time with the exception of the last four years. She was married in Plattsmouth on June 5, 1873 to Thomas H. Wales who preceded the wife in death some forty years ago and left to her the task of rearing the family. Two children are living, Mrs. Patrick Egan of Edgmont and Joseph E. Wales of Council Bluffs, Iowa. One son, Frank Wales, preceded the mother in death. Mrs. Wales was one of the long time members of the Women’s Relief corps of this city, her husband being a veteran of the civil war and her removal from the city four years ago took her from the list of the active membership. Former Resident Here Passed Away at Home of Daughter, Mrs. Patrick Egan From Thursday’s Daily- Mrs. Mary Wales, for many years a resident of this city and well known to the older residents of this community, passed away yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Patrick Egan at Edgmont, South Dakota, following an illness of some duration. The deceased lady was some eighty-three years of age and has been a resident here for the greater part of her lifetime. She was the widow of Thomas Wales, civil war veteran whose death occurred here a long period of years ago. In 1923 Mrs. Wales left her home as her advanced years made her maintaining the home impossible and she has since made her home with the daughter, Mrs. Egan. The deceased is survived by two children, Mrs. Egan and one son, Joseph Wales of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Robert Egan of this city is a grandson of the deceased lady.
