She came to America with her parents when very small and located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Peter Speaker on Sept. 15, 1843. From there, she and her husband moved to Marseilles, Illinois where her husband died. To this union was born one son Wilburn Speaker, come to be know by all as Wilburn Rider, who drowned in the Cottonwood River near the old dam at Elmdale, Kansas, in the year 1879, age 30 years old.
