Description	:	Cecial "Louise" Hayes, daughter of Forrest West and Minnie Sherman Shinn was born April 3, 1911 at Chester, Missouri, later named Stark City, Missouri, and passed away on February 27, 1998 at the Thayer County Memorial Hospital, Hebron, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 24 days. Louise came with her parents to Nebraska in 1915 and received her elementary education at Mount Zion and Loyalty schools and graduated from Hubbell High School in 1929. Louise came with her parents to Nebraska in 1915 and received her elementary education at Mount Zion and Loyalty schools and graduated from Hubbell High School in 1929. She was united in marriage to Harrold Lester Hayes on February 24, 1930 and to this union four children were born, Harold, Robert, Cecil, and Marjorie Darlene. She and Mrs. (sic) Hayes took into their home a foster child and she was like another grandchildren; she was Diana Spears Skeens. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chester, NE, and the Ruth and Naomi Circle of the Methodist Church, Chester Woman's Club, Chester Better Homes Extension Club for over 50 years. She was a 4-H leader for over 15 years and she loved children and like (sic) working with them. Louise also served as treasurer of the school board of district #58 for two terms. She and Mr. Hayes were proud to have been chosen as the honor farm family of Nebraska in 1947. She was proud of her heritage, a native American of the Cherokee Nation, having a love of the land and animals and all of nature. She loved to work in the garden and with flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest W. and Minnie Shinn; husband, Lester Hayes; two brothers, George Shinn and Richard Shinn; one sister, Ruby Hill; one granddaughter and one son-in-law, Louis Everhart. She is survived by three sons, Harold Hayes and his wife Doris, Salem, OR; Robert Hayes and his wife Norma, Winter Springs, FL; Cecil Hayes and his wife Betty of Pacentia, CA; one daughter, Marjorie Darlene Everhart, Hardy; 11 grandchildren, 1 foster granddaughter, 15 great-grandchildren; 3 foster great-granddaughters; two brothers, Eldon Shinn, Chester, Anthon Shinn, Merino, CO; 3 sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Monday, March 2, 1998, 2 o'clock p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Chester, conducted by Rev. T.J. Fraser. Organist was Mrs. Pauline Frye, and singers were Diana Skeens and Cindy Tipton. Casket bearers were Michael W. Tipton, Scot Kuhlmann, Ronnie Mumm, Rob Kuhlmann, Stuart Sutton and Chris Frye. Interment was made in the Chester Cemetery, Chester, NE.
