Read More	Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri, Jul 19, 1929 - Pg 1 Charles Dill Moffatt was born October 8, 1861 in Erie County, Pennsylvania, and when quite young, he with his parents moved to Rockford, Illinois, were he grew to manhood and completed his education. When he was 21 years of age he came west and settled in Friend, Nebraska and was employed by the Burk Grain Company, and worked for them for seventeen years, in buying grain and running the Elevator. Here he became acquainted with Miss Emma Kleckner, and after some time they were united in marriage and to this union was born one daughter who preceded her father in death, leaving no children. In 1899, he moved to Milligan, Nebraska, where he was employed by the Ewart Grain Co., of Lincoln to take charge of their elevator at the above named town, and continued in their service for ten years. In 1903 he was again married to Miss Mina Chase; and to this union was born six children, all of whom survive their father, except one son who preceded his father in death when but an infant. Mr. Moffatt was always interested in municipal affairs, and took a great deal of interest in the community in which he lived, until more recent years when his health began to be impaired. For many years he was a leader of bands in most every town in which he lived; 17 years at Friend, 10 years at Milligan, 3 years at Mt Claire, Edgar and other places. In fact wherever he lived it was not long until he was able to get some interest stirred up in music. He with his family lived at various places in the state. Friend, Milligan, Edgar, Mt Claire, Kimball County on a homestead where he remained until 1925, when they suffered a tremendous loss by fire. They then returned to Edgar, which has been their home until death overtook him last Saturday, July 13, 1929, at about 9 a.m He was 67 years, 8 months and five days of age. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Christian Church of Edgar, Nebraska by the pastor of the church, assisted by Rev Johnson, pastor of the Methodist Church. The music was furnished by the Chorus of the church, with Mrs. Wm Nichols at the piano, in a very dignified and impressive manner. The pallbearers were his six nephews. Interment was made in the Edgar Cemetery. The deceased leaves a loving companion, two sons, Harold of Superior, Nebraska and Wayne of Edgar, Nebraska, three daughters, Mrs. Elpha Heinrich of Nelson, Nebraska, Mrs. Sarah Reid of Liberty, Nebraska, Margaret who is at home with her mother, two grandchildren, and one sister in Spokane, Washington, beside a host of neighbors and friends.
