Read More	Husband of Bernice Levy Stepfather of Marie Son of Mabel Phinney and Percy Black Brother of Annetta Thibeault and Edna Bowlby Charles ''Charlie'' Eugene Black May 28, 1920 - October 10, 2015 BLACK, Charles Eugene aged 95 of Middleton, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 10, 2015 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, he was a son of the late Percy and Mabel (Phinney) Black. At a very early age he, with his family, moved to Middleton where he spent his life. In recent years he had been a member of the Policing Services Advisory Panel and also was a volunteer of the Middleton Fire Department. He was an active member of the Wilmot Baptist Church. As a member of the Contemporary Club, he served as treasurer for a number of years. As a member of the Wilmot Garden Club he entered many of the products of his vegetable garden in the Club's flower and vegetable show for which he received several top awards. While wintering in Florida for 17 years he attended the Wesleyan Church where he performed several volunteer duties. For several seasons he was a volunteer at the Florida Blood Services donating a total of 58 gallons of blood. As a resident of a mobile park, he was club treasurer and a member of the Shuffleboard team, playing in league and district tournaments. Following the passing of his father, he took over Black Printing Company as president and manager and owned and operated The Middleton Outlook newspaper. Charles is survived by his wife, the former Bernice Levy Stevens; stepdaughter, Marie Stevens, Middleton. He was predeceased by sisters, Annetta Thibeault, Calgary, and Edna Bowlby, Middleton. Visitation will be held from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 3:00, with Rev. Julia Howard officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Donations in memory of Charles may be made to the Wilmot Baptist Church or Christian organization of your choice. Family flowers only. Our family want to express our deepest appreciation to the staff of Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Mountain Lea Lodge for their professional care and concern for Charlie during his illness.
