Read More	Glasco Sun, Jan. 20, 1938, page 1: Charles Hammond Marshall was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, November 3, 1859 and passed away at the family home in Glasco, Monday night January 17, at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 14 days. His father, a prominent dentist in Leavenworth, took his family to Georgia where they lived for a time, coming back to Leavenworth in the late sixties. At the age of 16, Charlie Marshall went to Concordia where he joined his older brother, George, who was in the mercantile business. May 2, 1897, he was united in marriage to Minnie Reed. In 1899 they moved to Delphos where he established the clothing firm of Marshall, Barton and Fetters. Three years later the family came to Glasco where Mr. Marshall conducted a clothing store for many years. In later years, ill health prevented his maintaining his former active active life. A man of various interests, he greatly enjoyed music and literature. Especially during his younger days and even in later years, his singing added charm to numberless occasions and gatherings of many friends. He loved to read, he possessed an unusual store of knowledge and was familiar with much of the classic literature. When a young man, he became a member of the Presbyterian church in Concordia and was a member of the choir in that church for many years. Sincere and generous always, he appreciated best the simple things of life and got much pleasure from his home. In his business dealings, he was characterized by his honesty and fair dealings. His days came to a peaceful close in this community where he has made his home for more than a third of a century. He is survived by his wife, his son Charles of Glendale, California; his daughter, Mrs. Earl C. Woodward and three grand-children, Patty, Bob and Sally Sue Woodward of Salina, and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Lovett of Manhattan, Kansas. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Roy Allsbury of the Glasco Methodist church. Burial was in the Glasco cemetery.
