He was born June 15, 1916, in the Stokes County community of Harts Store, the elder son of William Silas and Edith Mae Hall Tucker. Read More	BROWN MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Charles Helon Tucker, 88, of Brown Mountain Road, Brown Mountain, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005. He was born June 15, 1916, in the Stokes County community of Harts Store, the elder son of William Silas and Edith Mae Hall Tucker. He was married to the former Myra Alice Smith on Christmas Day 1936, and lived in the Brown Mountain community for most of his adult life. Mr. Tucker was retired from N.C. Farm Bureau as agent and manager for Stokes County and was known to many people as a Case tractor collector and distributor, a welder in his own tractor repair shop, a heavy equipment operator, a sawmill operator and a farmer. He was also famous among his family and friends as a banjo player and storyteller extraordinaire. He was a member of Brown Mountain Baptist Church for well over 65 years, helping with the actual construction of the beautiful stone building in the early 1950s, and until the time of his death, he served as an active deacon and teacher of the Adult Men's Sunday School class. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star in Pilot Mountain. His wife; parents; and stepmother, Jenny Muncey Tucker, preceded him in death. His survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Myra and Ed Bullins of Brown Mountain and Jane Tucker of Harts Store. His grandchildren are Rachel Miller, Tucker Miller, Tom and Behethland Bullins Clark, Strother and Becky Bullins; and soon-to-be-born great-grandson Bullins. Also surviving are his brother York and Madge Tucker; sisters-in-law Elsie Goodman, Lucille and Bill Husztek, Jeanette and Ray Graves and Kay Smith; his aunt and uncle, Jessie Martin and Dennis Hall; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and neighbors, especially Betty Heath, Inez Tucker, Greg Hanna, Danny Martin, Phil Nunn and Richard Miller. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at Brown Mountain Baptist Church with Dean Barley, Julius Bradshaw and Rickey Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. His body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service.
