She was the daughter of Levi Septer and Jererusha (Marshall) Septer. The license states they were both residents of Alma, Nebraska at the time of their marriage. Cook in late 1929/early 1930. A marriage announcement was published in The Plattsmouth Journal, on January 20, 1930, stating that Mrs. Mary Piper and Joseph H. Cook had been secretly married in Kansas "some time since, keeping the matter a secret for some time". In 1930, when the census was taken, Mary and Joseph Cook were living in Plattsmouth, Nebraska with her sons, Hubert M. and Robert C. O. O. F. From Monday's Daily -- The funeral services of the late Charles M. Piper were held yesterday afternoon at the Christian church and quite largely attended by the friends and neighbors as well as the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of which he had been a member. The Rev. J. E. Stebbens, of Greenwood, conducted the service and spoke words of comfort to the bereaved family and sorrowing friends. At the grave in Oak Hill cemetery the I. O. O. F. conducted their beautiful ritualistic services as the body of their brother was consigned to the last long rest. Charles Martin Piper was born November 27, 1857, in Sauk county, Wisconsin, and died February 2, 1923, aged 65 years, 2 months and 5 days. He was married in 1885 to Miss Mary Septer of Phillipsburg, Kansas, and by this marriage he had two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Griffith of Dickens, Nebraska, and Mrs. Hattie Rustermeyer, of Aberdeen, Washington. On January 16, 1898, he was married to Mrs Mary Kuhl, of Plattsmouth and by this marriage he had eight children, four of whom have passed away. The four surviving are Charles Lee, Esma May, Hubert Merril and Robert Christopher. He also raised two stepsons, William Kuhl, Pacific Junction, Iowa, and Fred Kuhl, of Plattsmouth. One brother and sister survive him, David Piper of California and his sister, Mrs. Hattie Reynolds, of St. Joseph, Missouri.
