For some time Will had been under the weather but about two weeks before his death he was taken worse and since then rapidly failed until his death on Friday morning, April 20, at 7:20 o'clock a.m. Carl William Landgren was born in Swede Bend on May 5, 1875 and died April 20, 1900, at the age of 24 years, 11 months, and 15 days. He was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Olof Landgren. His boyhood days were spent on a farm south of town and in 1895 he, with his parents, moved to Stratford, where they have since resided. About a year ago he bought an interest in the harness shop with O.T. Peterson. Will was a gentlemanly fellow and well liked by all who knew him. He was a member of the Stratford Fire Department and also a member of the Stratford Cornet Band, will be greatly missed by the members of both these organizations. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the M.E. church, Rev. Hoelscher preaching in the American language and Rev. J. Linn in the Swedish. The services were very impressive and the church was crowded to overflowing. The pallbearers were: Ralph Swanson, Will Hamilton, Charley Deo, Frank Shaeffer, Tom Hakes and Nels Sandell. The floral decorations were: a wreath from the Ladies Park Association, a pillow from the business men and a harp from the Cornet Band. Almost seventy teams followed the remains to their last resting place in the Oakwood Cemetery. Card of Thanks. To the many friends and neighbors who helped us during the illness and death of our beloved son, Willie, we wish to return our heartfelt thanks. Words are inadequate to express our gratitude to you. - Mr. and Mrs. Olof Landgren Hamilton County Journal April 27, 1900 Died at the home of his parents in Stratford, Friday morning, Apr. 20th, 1900, Willie Landgren, age 25 years. He had been sick for some time, but was able to be around until about a week before his death. C.W. Landgren was born in Swede Bend, Iowa, in 1875. He moved with his parents to this city in 1895, where he has since resided. About a year ago he formed a partnership with O.T. Peterson in the harness buisiness. He was a member of the Stratford Fire Department and band. He leaves a father and mother and a host of friends who mourn his early departure.
