Description	:	Obituary: Charlotte L. Mayfield, 85, of Shelton died Sunday, April 30, 2006 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Shelton United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Ewton Officiating. Burial will be at Shelton Cemetery. Apfel-O'Brien-Straatmann Funeral Home of Wood River is in charge of arrangements. She was born October 31, 1920 in Shelton to Oscar and Laurene (Warren) Hall. On June 20, 1942, she married Stewart Mayfield in Kearney. He preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Don, of Shelton. Additional survivors include her daughter-in-law, Gerda Mayfield, of Shelton; granddaughter, Sandra, of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Calvin, both of Omaha; and great-great-grandson, Justice, of Omaha. She was baptized into the Presbyterian faith. She attended Shelton Public School and graduated in 1938. She and her husband farmed in the Shelton and Wood River area for 25 years. She worked as a cosmetology instructor in Kearney and Grand Island for 30 years. She was a 42 year member of Ellen Rebekah Lodge 306. She also was an active member of the Shelton American Legion Auxiliary and a charter member of the Wood River Valley Historical Society. Her hobbies included card playing, baking and needlework. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Oliver of Gothenburg, Claudia Anderson of Loveland, Colorado, and Corrine Wicht of Gibbon; and a brother, Tom Hall, of Boelus.
