Description	:	Christian E. Metzger, 81, former Nebraska state senator, passed away Friday, May 13,1966 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. Metzger, a native of Cedar Creek, was a farmer and cattle feeder in the area. He was in the livestock commission business in Omaha from 1916 to 1950 and served as president of the Omaha Livestock Exchange in 1943 and 1944. He also served as vice president of the National Livestock Commission in 1949 and was a member of the American Meat Board. Metzger, 81, former Nebraska state senator, passed away Friday, May 13,1966 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. Metzger, a native of Cedar Creek, was a farmer and cattle feeder in the area. He was in the livestock commission business in Omaha from 1916 to 1950 and served as president of the Omaha Livestock Exchange in 1943 and 1944. He also served as vice president of the National Livestock Commission in 1949 and was a member of the American Meat Board. He served two terms in the Nebraska House of Representatives in 1911 representing Cass County. In 1951 he was a state senator in the Nebraska Legislature from Cass and Sarpy counties. Mr. Metzger was a member of the State Highway Advisory Commission from its formation in 1953 until 1964 when he resigned due to failing health. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth, Masonic Lodge 6AF&AM of Plattsmouth, Scottish Rite and Shrine of Omaha and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Belle Martin Metzger, his parents, Christian and Mary Louise Wintz Metzger, sisters Evaline, Mary (Pattie) and Wilhelmina (Minnie) Metzger and Clara Stander, brothers William, Albert and Marion Metzger. Survivors include his son William A. Metzger of Cedar Creek, daughter Marguerite Metzger Hall of Lincoln, brother Fred of Ryegate, Montana and sister Amelia Mayer of Ulm, Germany. Grandchildren: Catherine and James Hall of Lincoln; Lisa, Christine, Michele and William Metzger of Cedar Creek and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be in Plattsmouth at Caldwell Funeral Home. Final resting place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth.
