Read More	Obituary June 27, 1932 Mrs. Christina Rummel, Pioneer Resident, Dies Lacking But Few days of Ninety Years of Age Mrs. Rummel Receives the Call to Rest Mrs. Christina Rummel, 90, a pioneer of this section of Cass county, was called to her last reward Friday afternoon. Her death came at the close of long and useful life and was caused by the infirmities of her advanced years. The life of Mrs. Rummel is the story of the history of Nebraska, as she and her husband, the late Peter Rummel, came to Nebraska in the fall of 1864, before the admission of the state into the Union, assisting in the building of the great agricultural empire that this state now boasts. Christina Vallery, daughter of Jacob and Mary Vallery, was born in Pike county, Ohio, June 29, 1842, growing to womanhood in that state. On March 22, 1864 she was united in marriage to Peter Rummel, and in November of that year the young couple went west to start life together in the land of promise. They engaged in farming in this section of Cass county and here the family was reared and have followed the parents in the pursuit of agriculture. On April 24, 1885, the father passed away and left the rearing of the family to the wife, and who reared to manhood four sons, three of whom survive her. The children living are Jacob Rummel, Beaver City, Nebraska: William Rummel of this city, and Edward Rummel of Mynard, one son preceding the mother in death. Following the death of the husband and marriage of the older sons, Mrs. Rummel resided with her younger son, Edward, at his farm home for the greater part of the time, all tho in the late years she has made her home with Mrs and...
