The Columbus Telegram, March 3, 1973 JOHANNES - Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus for Mrs. William (Clara) Johannes, 81, of Columbus, who died Friday at Behlen Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. The Rev. B.F. Meschke wil officiate and burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held in the church basement 1:45 p.m. Monday preceding the services. The body will lie in state at Gass-Haney Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Sunday until noon Monday and from 1 p.m. until time of services Monday at the church. The daughter of Godfried and Marie Brock Marty, she was born May 21, 1891 in Platte County and received her education at Christ Lutheran Schools. She was married to William Johannes Feb. 20, 1914 and they farmed near Leigh 30 years before moving to Columbus. A housewife, she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Leigh before their move to Columbus when she became a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Edgar (Hilda) Littelman of Creston, Mrs. Paul (Leona) Siefken of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Frank (Alice) Aerni of Columbus; three brothers, Walter of Columbus, Art of Leigh, Otto of Fresno, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Wilke of Columbus, Mrs. Carl (Anna) Buelow of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Walter (Rose) Ludwig of Columbus, Irma Marty of Columbus; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1962; a son, Paul, in 1972; an infant daughter; three brothers, Godfried, Emil and a sister, Mathilda.
