Read More	Stratford Courier February 11, 1954 Clarence August Angstrom passed away quietly, Feb. 4, 1954, in the Boone county hospital at the age of 54 years, 5 months and 7 days, after being hospitalized for several months. The son of Jonas and Martha Angstrom, he was born on a farm northeast of Stratford. He was baptized Oct. 22, 1899 and confirmed Aug. 6, 1916, in the Stratford Lutheran church. He was a well liked and familiar figure in the Stratford community and a farmer most of his life. However, he resided in town for the past 11 years and drove a school bus for the past 10 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Angstrom, April 29, 1950. He is survived by his father, Jonas Angstrom, age 86, of Stratford; two brothers, Lloyd S. and Harold G., of the Stratford community, and three sisters: Mrs. Elsie Williams of Burnside, Mrs. Hazel Westrum and Mrs. Irene Carlstedt, both of Stratford. There are also 5 nieces and 4 nephews surviving. We watched him suffer day by day, It caused us bitter grief To see him slowly pine away And could not give relief. His weary hours and days of pain His troubled nights are passed, And in our aching hearts we know He was found sweet rest at last. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Feb. 7, at 2 o'clock in the Stratford Lutheran church, preceded by a brief prayer service in the Jackson funeral home. The Rev. Lawrence Anderson officiated at the services. Three songs were sung at the service by Mrs. Arthur Larson, Mrs. Arnold Larson, Lester Anderson and Axel Sandegren. They were: "Nearer My God to Thee," "Shall We Meet Beyond the River," and "Beyond the Sunset," with Mary Scott as accompanist. The flowers were in charge of Miss Hannah Nelson and Mrs. Axel Sandegren. At the close of the services the remains were taken to Oakwood cemetery for interment. The pallbearers were the nephews of the deceased: Grant Kallansrud, Maurice Albrecht, Ben Robinson, Gordon Appenzeller, Verlyn Westrum and Dale Westrum.
