He was a member of the Central Christian Church of Belleville, Kansas, Chester Masonic Lodge No. 298 AF & AM of Chester, Nebraska, former member of the Belleville Kiwanis Club, 4-h Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Fort Butler Rock & Gen Club, and superintendent of Boys Home, Diller, Nebraska for six years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen Palmer, one son, Philip, one daughter, Beth Ann, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by four daughters, Loetta Duey of Haddam, Kansas; Dorothy Duey of Lincoln, Nebraska; Donna Snyder of Mankato, Kansas; Edith Kleen of York, Nebraska; one son, Elmore Palmer of Livingston, Texas; John Patras of Auburn, Nebraska; 24 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren 22 great- grandchildren, three sisters, Nellie Fuller of Rolla, Missouri; Viola Throm of Marysville, Kansas; and Grayce Sterba of Wichita, Kansas. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 1, 1997, at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Christian Church, Belleville, Kansas, with Rev. Robert Hovorka officiating. Burial was made in Chester Cemetery, Chester, Nebraska.
