Description	:	Cora Mae Burwell, daughter of the late Nathaniel and Martha Green Ferris, was born in Sioux County, Iowa, near Ireton on July 11, 1881. In 1886 the family moved to Akron where she attended school and the Methodist church. She was baptized in 1899. After graduation from the Akron high school she taught in the Ruble public school. She was united in marriage to Lee Burwell at the home of her parents in Akron Feb. 18, 1903. After their marriage they moved to a farm north of Sibley and later to a farm near Marathon where they farmed until moving into Marathon in 1912.... She was united in marriage to Lee Burwell at the home of her parents in Akron Feb. 18, 1903. After their marriage they moved to a farm north of Sibley and later to a farm near Marathon where they farmed until moving into Marathon in 1912. In 1924 they moved to Carroll where they lived until Mr. Burwell's death on March 19, 1934. After her husband's death she moved to California where she lived for several years before moving to Rembrandt where she had made her home until a year ago last January when she went to live at Sunset Knoll retirement home in Aurelia. She had been in failing health this past year and was taken to Alta Memorial hospital on Sunday Feb. 26, where she passed away Friday morning, March 3, 1967, attaining the age of 85 years, seven months and 20 days. She leaves to mourn her passing one son: Walter Lee Burwell of Casper, Wyo.; five daughters: Mrs. Reen (Ruby) Johnson and Mrs. Charles (Vera) Stratton both of Rembrandt, Mrs. Everett (Inez) Anderson of Alta, Mrs. Wayne (Myrtle) Zender of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Marlin (Arlene) Cannoy of Downey Calif.; also 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Chester H. Burwell, six brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 6, at the Rembrandt Methodist church, Rev. Paul Potter officiating. Organist was Mrs. Roger Mickelson. A trio consisting of Mrs. Edward Mosbo, Mrs. C. B. McCormick(?) and Mrs. Roger Mickelson sang "Ivory Palaces", "Nearer to the Heart of God" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Caring for the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Johnson of Alta and Mrs. Mike Ward of Sioux City. Burial was in Poland township cemetery in Marathon. Pallbearers were her grandchildren Dale Anderson, Dean Anderson, Bill Burwell, Robert Burwell, Richard Johnson and Daryl Renshaw.
