Description	:	Myrtle Burwell Zender was born Jan. 26, 1913 at Marathon (Iowa), the daughter of Lee and Cora Ferris Burwell. She was baptized at the Marathon Methodist church. She attended school at Marathon and later at Carroll (Iowa), where she lived for 18 years. She was united in marriage to Wayne Zender June 6. 1934 at Carroll. She had made her home in Sacramento for the past... Read More	Myrtle Burwell Zender was born Jan. 26, 1913 at Marathon (Iowa), the daughter of Lee and Cora Ferris Burwell. She was baptized at the Marathon Methodist church. She attended school at Marathon and later at Carroll (Iowa), where she lived for 18 years. She was united in marriage to Wayne Zender June 6. 1934 at Carroll. To this union were born two children, Donald and Barbara. The family later moved to San Diego, Cal. and Myrtle worked in a department store for almost 36 years. Her husband died In Nov. 1974. She had made her home in Sacramento for the past two and a half years and it was here that she passed away on Saturday, June 21, 1980 at the age of 67 years, four months and 25 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Chester. She is survived by her son, Donald, Thousand Oaks, Cal., daughter, Barbara (Mrs Clifton) Bass, Rockland, Cal., one brother, Walter Burwell, Casper, Wyo.; four sisters, Ruby (Mrs. Reen) Johnson, Rembrandt, Mrs. Inez Anderson, Alta, Mrs. Vera Stratton, Columbia, S C, and Arlene (Mrs. Marlin) Cannoy, Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services were held Wednesday morning, June 25, at 10 am at the Poland Township cemetery, Marathon, with the Rev. Russell Eldridge officiating.
