P. MANATREY for her granddaughter, Miss Cordelia JENCKS of Topeka, Kansas. Miss JENCKS passed away Friday morning in Topeka from Pneumonia, following burns sustained in an accident at the JENCKS home on Thursday. Rev. William Yingling was in charge of the funeral services this afternoon. Pallbearers included Roscoe Thomas, John Barwise, Edmund Hunt, Arthur Louden, R. D. Hunt, and John Labagh. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. In attendance at the services from out of town were M. W. JENCKS, Hambleton Abrahams and A. J. Carruth, all of Topeka, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Wheelock, Lewis Wheelock and Louise Wheelock, all of Des Moines. A item carrying an account of the accident to Miss JENCKS appeared in yesterday's Topeka State Journal. It is as follows: "Cordelia JENCKS, pretty, vivacious and popular 19-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice W. JENCKS, 3146 Shadow Lane, died at Christ's hospital this morning from pneumonia, following burns sustained at the family home Thursday afternoon. Miss JENCKS returned a few days ago from a trip to the west coast. "A pack of matches exploded in her lap, setting fire to her dress, and leaving her with several No. 1 and No. 2 degree burns. Her mother, in extinguishing the blaze, was burned about the hands and arms. Both were taken to Christ's hospital. Late last night the daughter was taken down with pneumonia, and died this morning. "Cordelia JENCKS was born May 10, 1921, in Fairfield, Iowa, the second daughter in the JENCKS family. She came to Topeka with the family in 1923, and has resided here since, except for several years spent in eastern schools. She spent last winter in Florida, and the spring and early summer on the west coast and in the Colorado Rockies. "Mrs. JENCKS will be forced to remain in Christ's hospital for several days due to her burns. "Mr. JENCKS, who was in Des Moines on Free Fair business Thursday, was able to return home before his daughter's death this morning. "Mr. JENCKS will accompany the body to Fairfield tonight, and a service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of Mrs. JENCKS' mother, Mrs. J. P. MANATREY."
