Spees was born March 12, 1915, north of Birmingham (sic. assuming in Van Buren county, but could possibly have been on the border with Jefferson county; any clarification would be appreciated), the son of William and Lula Fisher Spees. He lived most of his life in the Birmingham community and graduated from Birmingham High School. He farmed most of his life in the Birmingham area and later moved to Calu Apartments in Fairfield. He married Evelyn Mae Wyckoff (sic. Wykoff) Oct. 30, 1938, at Wooster. She died May 8, 1980. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church; the Old Threshers Association, working as a volunteer in the antiques building; Bonnett Schoolhouse, and formerly was active in the Air Stream Caravan. surviving are a son, David, of Birmingham; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Eddie of Birmingham; two sisters, Julia Neuhart of Edina, Minn., and Reba Mae Vogel of Lemoyne, Pa. A son, Bruce Eugene, preceded him in death.
