Description	:	At 3:15 o’clock Monday afternoon [Dec. 13, 1920] occurred the death of Cyril Sicard who has resided in this vicinity for about eighteen years. The cause of death was asthma with which he had suffered for many years but it was only about two weeks ago that he became seriously ill. Deceased was born in Canada March 24, 1851. He was united in marriage November 22, 1877, to Miss Mary Manard [Menard] and in 1890 [1891] the family moved to Fall Rivers, Mass., residing there until 1902 when they came to South Dakota where they took up... The cause of death was asthma with which he had suffered for many years but it was only about two weeks ago that he became seriously ill. Deceased was born in Canada March 24, 1851. He was united in marriage November 22, 1877, to Miss Mary Manard [Menard] and in 1890 [1891] the family moved to Fall Rivers, Mass., residing there until 1902 when they came to South Dakota where they took up their residence on a farm east of Volin. After Mrs. Sicard’s death, which occurred May 2, 1914, Mr. Sicard made his home with his children, the greater part of the time with his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Donovan, at whose home he died. He is survived by six children – Peter and Omar Sicard and Mrs. Chas. Donovan of Volin, and Mrs. John Tuttle, Mrs. Henry Bohde and Felix Sicard of Hartley, Iowa. Another daughter, Mrs. Edward Potter, died two years ago. Funeral services were held at the Wakonda Catholic church Wednesday morning, Rev. Father Egan officiating, and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery south of Wakonda. The body of Mrs. Sicard, who was buried in the Volin cemetery, will be moved this week to rest beside her husband. Mr. Sicard had many friends in this vicinity who will extend their sincere sympathy to the sorrowing ones. (The Volin Advance, Volin, SD, December 16, 1920)
