Cross cattle camp on Big Box Elder creek, to his home. He had delivered a load of hay to camp, and his dead body, covered with blood, was found in the bottom of the hay rack by his wife on return of the team to his home. Anderson was 52 years old and was noted for his quarrelsome disposition. He killed a sheepherder at Box Elder in this county nine years ago and got a year in the penitentiary for it. He freighted for the Diamond B outfit years ago. -- The Evening Standard, Ogden City, Utah, 26 Dec 1911 Charge Son With Killing His Father Havre, Mont., Dec. 25--Immediately after the funeral of Dan Anderson, the Assiniboine rancher who was murdered near his home last Thursday afternoon, his oldest son, James, 19 years of age, was arrested upon an information filed today by the county attorney charging him with the crime. The inquest which was held at the scene of the murder brought out a number of facts. He had quarreled with his father and there were some damaging contradictions.
