They will go to housekeeping on the farm of Joseph Duey, near the city of Belleville. =============================================== The Chester Herald (Chester, NE), Thursday, May 9, 1918 Last Saturday afternoon about 3 o'clock D.C. Duey, at the Blue Valley hospital, passed from this life to his heavenly state. The word conveying the news of his death caused an expression of marked regret and sadness; to grip the living throughout this town and community. In the passing of this good citizen the community fully realize the loss it has thus sustained. Mr. Duey was conspicious in the community for the noble life which he lived among his fellowmen, for the zeal and interest, his help and counsel in matters pertaining to community good, the development and progress of church and schools. Yet in all these he was modest and unassuming in the performance of his duty, but untiring. He did nothing for personal joy or gain, but sacrified much for the good of others. He was prominently identified with all religious programs and was devoted to his family, ever mindful of their desires, happiness, care and religious training. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Methodist church (sic), Rev. Neal Johnson, the pastor, conducting the services, assisted by Revs. H.S. Weary and Richardson. Rev. Johnson chose for his text the words: Be Thou Faithful Unto Death and I Will Give thee a Crown of Life, from which he spoke words of cheer to soothe the deep sorrow of the bereaved family and commended them to a merciful God in their hour of sad afflication. The Rev. Johnson paid a high tribute to the strong character and noble life of the deceased. He was faithful to the end and now enjoys his reward on the great white throne and his children will rise to call him blessed. A male quartette composed of Messrs. Garvin, Hansen, Holmes and Hinthorn, sang the favorite hymns of the departed. Interment was made in Chester cemetery (sic). OBITUARY David Clarence Duey was born near Carlisle, Pa., October 20, 1877, and departed this life May 4, 1918. He came at the age of 10 years with his parents to Chester, Nebr. He entered the Chester school graduating from the same in 1896. February 4, 1900, he was united in marriage with Delilah Waring. To them were born eight children: Fern, Carl, Guy, Glen, Harold, Helen, Paul and Pauline. At the age of 17, he was converted and united with the Chester Methodist Episcopal church (sic) under the pastorate of Lenfest. During the intervening years his life has been one of devotion to his Master and service in the church. He had many duties laid upon him and was faithful in them all.
