Wolf, both of Carlisle Springs, Cumberland Co. ===================================================== Carlisle Evening Herald (Carlisle, PA), Monday, October 8, 1906; pg. 1 Mrs. Amanda Duey. Within four days two daughters of the late David Wolf, of Middlesex township, have passed away. On Thursday, Oct. 4th, Mrs. Sarah A. Clingan died at her home in Cookeville, Illinois, and now come the sad news of the death of her sister, Mrs. Amanda Duey, who passed peacefully away at her home in Chester, Neb. Eight weeks ago she was taken seriously ill and not at any time was there any helpful improvement in her condition. Death ended her sufferings Sunday morning, October 7. Mrs. Duey was a daughter of the late David Wolf, of near Carlisle Springs, and was 51 years of age. About eighteen years ago she moved to the west with her husband and has since resided there. She was a member of the Methodist Church and a highly respected woman. Her husband, three sons and one daughter and the following brothers and sisters survive: John Wolf, of Middlesex township; Wm. C. Wolf, of Plattsburg, Mo.; Joseph Wolf, Carlisle, county register; Mrs. Martin Duey, of Chester, Neb. The funeral will be held on Tuesday. ===================================== The Hebron Champion (Hebron, NE), Friday, October 12, 1906; pg. 1 MRS. AMANDA M. DUEY Amanda M. Wolf was born at Carlysle (sic) Springs, Pennsylvia (sic), May 31, 1855, and died at her home in Chester, Nebraska, October 7 1906, being therefore 51 years, 4 months and 6 days old. She joined the German Reformed Church at Carlysle (sic) Springs at the early age of 14 years; was married to Joseph Duey at Carlysle (sic) Springs, Pennsylvania, December 28 1876. She moved with her husband to Chester, Nebraska, in 1886, when she joined the M.E. church (sic), of which she remained a faithful member and a willing worker till God said 'It is enough, well done thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joys of thy Lord" She was the mother of five children, for (sic) boys and one girl, all living but one, he having died in infancy. All her children and grandchildren, together with other relatives, were with her when she died. She leaves to mourn her death, besides her husband and immediate family, three brothers and one sister, one sister having preceded her to that better world. But a few days, they were separated on earth, but united in Heaven. In her last illness, when her body knew frail, her sole thought was for those who ministered to her wants, and almost to the last moment her countenance would light up with a bright sweet smile which told of Heavenly visions and of the great Infinite love of which she was a faithful exponent, and those who helped care for her learned new lessons in patience and hopefulness. When at last the "silver cord was loosed" trustfully she gave herself to the loving Father who "doeth all things well" and who is fully able to sustain and comfort those who are left to mourn the loss of a loving wife, mother, sister, friend and neighbor. We comment them to Him who has said, "I will not leave you comfortless, but I will send a comforter unto you." May we all remain faithful until such time as we may be called to meet in a brighter and better world, and when such times come may the summons be to us at to her "A falling asleep in Jesus." "Asleep in Jesus, Blessed Sleep; "From which none ever wake to weep." The funeral services were held from the Methodist church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, conducted by Rev. A.O. Hinson, assisted by Rev. D.G. Wagner and the remains were laid to rest in the Chester cemetery (sic). MRS. M.W. SPOHN.
